Google to Roll Out Material Design For Reviews and Ratings Section

Google Material Design

Google is not much experimental with the Play Store design. But when the company does the redesigning of the same, we’ve spotted the pattern of updating the designs one by one. We are seeing that Google is rolling out the Material Design update for the Reviews and Rating section below the app page in Google Play Store. It’s been a long time since Google was beta testing this design update with the Google apps and third-party apps for select users. But now the feature is coming for all users from next week.

Below the app install button, users can spot the cumulative tally of the reviews received on the app. Below that, the material design elements are added which can be spotted easily with the rounded corners alongside the user reviews. The star ratings are not color coded anymore and do not show the red color for lowest ratings. All of the ratings have uniform color now that matches the app page. Also, there is a material design element that asks the users to rate the reveiew as helpful or not. Most useful reviews are up, and the recent are at the bottom.

At the bottom of the page, the new addition of See All reviews with a Sorting filter. The users can use various filters to sort the reviews from All, Positive, Negative, and according to the ratings from 1-to-5. This is an exciting addition for the developers to classify the reviews and answer them individually. The developers have done an excellent job in integrating the material theme for a clean interface. The update version 13.4.11 is coming next week and will be rolled out to all of the users.
